The spiked ball on a Spike-o-Pult is very similar. When a Spike Bloon is popped, a spiked ball comes out and falls. When a Tack Bloon is popped, 8 tacks come out from the north,northeast,east,southeast,south,southwest,west,and northwest, similar to how the Tack Shooter shoots tacks. The more bloons popped at once, the more the points you get. One of the pre-round comments that appears during gameplay claims that you can't beat the game using only Tack Towers however, this is actually doable.The objective is to match three or more bloons of the same color.

Despite this game having the weakest roster of Bloon types, BTD1 is considered by most fans to be the hardest game in the Bloons Tower Defense series because you only get 40 lives and the tower lineup is also quite basic. The Super Monkeys were inspired by Superman. The Tack Tower, Ice Tower, and Bomb Tower were inspired by special Bloons seen in the first Bloons game (specifically the Tack Bloon, Ice Bloon, and Bomb Bloon respectively). White Bloon: Moves slightly faster than a Black Bloon and spawns two Yellow Bloons when popped. Black Bloon: Moves as fast as a Blue Bloon and spawns two Yellow Bloons when popped. Yellow Bloon: Moves very fast and spawns a Green Bloon when popped. Green Bloon: Moves fairly quickly and spawns a Blue Bloon when popped. 
Blue Bloon: Moves a little faster and spawns a Red Bloon when popped.Moves slowly and spawns nothing when popped.

Upgrade #1: Epic Range - The Super Monkey's range is increased. Unlike the other tower types, it only has one upgrade instead of two. Super Monkey: A superhero monkey who throws darts at an incredibly fast rate. Upgrade #2: Extra Range Bombs - The Bomb Tower's range is increased. Upgrade #1: Bigger Bombs - The Bomb Tower's bombs create bigger blasts. Bomb Tower: A cannon that shoots bombs at Bloons, creating explosions that damage any Bloon caught in the blast. Upgrade #2: Wide Freeze Radius - The Ice Tower's range is increased. 
Upgrade #1: Long Freeze Time - Bloons frozen by the Ice Tower stay frozen for longer.Ice Tower: A magic ball of ice that periodically unleashes blasts of frost that freeze any Bloon caught in its range.Upgrade #2: Extra Range Tacks - The Tack Tower's range is increased.Upgrade #1: Faster Shooting - The Tack Tower's attack speed is increased.Tack Tower: A machine that shoots tacks in eight directions.Upgrade #2: Long Range Darts - The Dart Tower's range is increased.
Upgrade #1: Piercing Darts - The Dart Tower's darts can now pop two Bloons, able to pierce through the first one they hit. Dart Tower: A normal monkey that throws darts at Bloons. Most Bloons can be popped with relative ease, but certain Bloons can resist attacks from a particular type of tower. Each tower type has its own method of attack, and can be upgraded to increase its lethality against the Bloons. You start out with $650 and 40 lives, and must use that money along with the money earned from popping Bloons to set up a solid defense using the five different tower types in your arsenal in order to beat all 50 rounds. The entire game takes place on a single curvy path set in a grassy field.
